Lake Barrine
Just a short drive from Breamber, Lake Barrine is ideal for swimming, canoeing, bushwalking and bird watching.
The Lake Barrine Tea House is an excellent place to sit down for lunch on the veranda overlooking the lake. A wildlife cruise departs from the tea house 4 times daily, offering an informative and gentle boat ride around the perimeter of the lake.

Two historic Kauri trees, over 1100 years old, are a 5-minute walk from the teahouse. These twin trees are and are a magnificent site.
Lake Eacham
The centrepiece of the 489-hectare Lake Eacham National Park, characterised by dense rainforest and thousands of small animals.
The lake is ideal for swimming, canoeing, bushwalking, and bird watching. No motorised boats are allowed on the lake. It is 60 metres deep, and features a pontoon great for diving into the deep water. A large grassy area is suitable for picnics, sunbathing, or just watching the kids as they play in the shallow water near the edge of the lake.
Surrounding the lake is a 4 km water track, which begins and ends at the parking lot. This walk is suitable for all ages because it is flat and paved the entire length. On weekends, a small canteen is opened where light refreshment can be purchased.

The Danbulla Forest Drive starts at the top of the Gillies Highway and finishes at the Tinaroo Dam wall. The drive is pleasant and offers magnificent views of the lake.
Waterfall Circuit
This trip takes in spectacular waterfalls that cascade into pools of water that are home to fish, turtles and other freshwater creatures. Visitors can swim in almost all the waterfalls – signs will indicate whether you can do so or not.

The 15 km waterfall circuit begins only minutes from Millaa Millaa, where the Millaa Millaa Falls, Elinjaa Falls and Zillie Falls are located. The drive to these falls is along a paved road with signs along the way to make it easy and enjoyable.

Curtain Fig Tree
As one of the largest trees in North Queensland, the Curtain Fig Tree is fascinating and unusual. The tree is located just 10 minutes drive from Breamber.
The fig tree is from the strangler fig species Ficus virens. The curtain effect results from one tree leaning against another tree on a 45-degree angle. The strangler vine then grew along the oblique angle of the leaning tree, dangling 15 metres to the ground to create the curtain effect.

Wildlife
A wide variety of bird life can be seen on and around the lake, particularly in the early mornings when the glassy surface of the lake faithfully reflects the surrounding landscape. Brolgas, pelicans, cormorants, and whistling ducks are some of the more common species and dozens more will be spotted by the keen observer.
Breamber also has its own dam habited by platypus which can be viewed early in the morning or at sunset.
The Atherton Tableland is home to the rare and elusive tree kangaroo and the cassowary. These large flightless birds are part of the ratite group, which also includes the emu, rhea, ostrich, moa, and kiwi.
